Dutta’s ancestral history starts in Hoogly district at a renowned village named Kumirmora near Shiyakhala. The Dutta’s was a renowned family during that time. It is said that years back one of the forefathers bought a coconut tree for the price of Rs. 1000 and since then the Dutta’s got the upadhi of ‘Hajari’. The village had a shrine devoted to lord Gopal named Dadhi Mangal that still exists and is worshipped even today.
After the demise of Upendra Dutta’s wife, he along with his children migrates to Kolkata to make his establishment in the heart of the city. Since then most of the Dutta kins are now established in Kolkata. I, Tanmay Dutta son of late Prabhat Dutta (Becha) have visited my ancestral village several times riding martin train during my childhood days.
After shifting to Kolkata Upendra’s youngest son, Prabhat Dutta (my father) gets enrolled in Metropolitan school and practiced cricket in bhawanipur club. During that time he enrolled himself in British military which was against the family. As I have seen, my father was a stout, tall, and handsome man who received movie proposal from director Bimal Roy but he rejected the proposal due to familial issues. He then marries his friend’s beautiful sister who was from Dhaka. His marriage was also brutally rejected by his family but later was reunited by his wife, my mother, late Smriti Dutta.
